What to expect with Shockwave Therapy

What to Expect During a Shockwave Therapy Session

Shockwave therapy sessions are quick, usually lasting about 15-30 minutes. During the treatment:
  1. Assessment: The practitioner identifies the affected area and evaluates the condition.
  2. Application: A conductive gel is applied, and the shockwave device is placed on the skin.
  3. Treatment: Acoustic waves are delivered in controlled bursts, targeting the affected tissues.
Patients may feel mild discomfort during the procedure, but it is well-tolerated by most individuals. The level of intensity can be adjusted to ensure patient comfort. Most individuals experience noticeable improvements within 1-3 sessions.
Cold Laser Therapy Integration: In many cases, shockwave therapy is coupled with cold laser therapy to enhance treatment outcomes. Cold laser therapy complements shockwave therapy by:
Reducing inflammation: The low-level laser helps soothe irritated tissues.
Accelerating tissue repair: It enhances cellular energy production, promoting faster healing.
Boosting pain relief: Laser therapy reduces nerve sensitivity, providing additional comfort post-treatment.
The combination of these therapies maximizes healing potential and is particularly beneficial for chronic and stubborn conditions.
